Bran

In this chapter the old man from the Wall is found and they end up beheading him. His father Eddard, explains to Bran that he did it because that way if he couldn't bring himself to do it, then the man didn't deserve to die, but they did it out of pity. Then they find direwolves on the side of the road. They then divide them up between the siblings for them to take care of. I think this part of the book is important because it deals with justice. Justice is an always changing thing depending on society at the current time. So it was important that Eddard was the one to kill the man since he handed down the punishment himself. That way if he couldn't do it, it wasn't a just punishment. Also the direwolves are important because they haven't been seen in forever so it means a big change is coming but they don't know what. I liked this chapter because it helped reveal what kind of people the characters were and their morality. Which is good because it was much easier to hide true intentions back then as you didn't see people as often and communication was hard.
